A Queer Wedding and an old farmhouse
Jess and Alice
An intimate Autumnal Dream.
As we arrived at Cormiston Farm in Biggar, Scotland, and peeked the cute little hand embroidered sign reading ‘’Preparation in Progress’’ hanging off the door handle – we knew we were in for a treat.
Jess (they/them) and Alice(she/her) had curated an absolutely beautiful day. It was an autumnal delight with burnt oranges and greens. A small intimate day filled with personalized touches that just resonated with their love story. A day just bursting at the seams with queer love and joy.
As we stepped into the gorgeously decorated farm house adorned with quirky features, two feline eyes stared straight into our souls from a cardboard cutout of their beautiful cat named Arti, that could not physically join them on the day.
There and then we decided to incorporate a game into their day of ‘Find Arti’, where we would strategically hide this kitty cutout in different places on their day, for them to find later in their gallery.
This was to be an easy day, as they are so besotted with one another.
They are so in love and you can tell on every frame we captured of them on their day.
It started off with them getting ready together. Jess wore a gorgeous suit made by our friends at Queersuitsyou.
Jess wanted to look like a vampire cowboy – and with the help of Queersuitsyou, was able to accomplish this goal.
Alice wore a gorgeous timeless silky dress from The Bridal Courtyard. After the two were rocking their gorgeous outfits for the day, the finishing touch was a family pass down floral headband that 2 generations wore before Alice. Jess carefully clipped this into her hair, and the two were ready to get wed!
Armed with a dried flower bouquet from The Pretty Wildflower the two made their way down the aisle. It was to be an outdoor wedding in the crisp autumnal afternoon. We had a beautiful backdrop with the mist hanging low over the hills in the distance. Arti made a guest appearance, along with a flock of migrating geese that flew overhead as the two’s story was being told.
Honestly, it was a like an LGBTQ+ fairytale.
After the I do’s were uttered and the two were legally wed, we got everyone together for a confetti shot to kick off the celebrations! The warmth of the love emanating from all their loved ones, kept the autumn chill at bay.
After joy-filled embraces and congratulations were shared, we slipped off quietly with the two for some time to capture their portraits.
The gorgeous old farm house provided us with so many opportunities to capture these two being cheesy and loved up. They gave us free reign to get artsy and we enjoyed soaking them in slithers of natural light. They joked and laughed and time slipped away quickly. These two were so easy to photograph.
It felt like we had all known each other for years and we were merely hanging out, being our creative selves.
After we captured their goofy mushy faces, everyone got competitive and cosy, playing board games in the old barn.
We snapped a few belly laughs and chats and said our farewells. Leaving the two to a wholesome meal and time with their loved ones.
This was possibly one of our most favorite autumnal LGBTQ weddings in Scotland, ever!
Stay wild, moon child.
