A SUNNY SCOTTISH WEDDING
Cathie & Nicole
Cathie and Nicole found us whilst searching for an alternative wedding photographer in Scotland. After meeting the pair of football fanatics, a year ago via a zoom call, a friendship with these two was sparked. We later then met up with the two at their coffee shop Three Cups in the South of Glasgow where wedding plans were to be discussed. The day was to be filled with unique features that represented their love story and what they were all about.
Cathie and Nicole had met online whilst still at university
After some back and forth messaging the two met in person just before Valentines Day and a spark was lit. Nicole recalls how she was so giddy in the beginning and so excited to have met the perfect person for her.
After spending time together and forging a life together it seemed that getting hitched was definitely their next step.
So, in July 2023 at Balmaha, Loch Lomond Nicole popped the question first. And a year later Cathie returned the favour at their favourite pub where they first spent time – Paradise Palms in Edinburgh. These two knew exactly what they wanted – a forever together.
When one thinks of Scotland, sunshine is not the first thing that springs to mind – but for Nicole and Cathie this weird phenomenon set the tone for their beautiful wedding day.
We started at their apartment and after capturing some of their prep we made our way to Cottiers Glasgow where Diane told their gorgeous story under an arch created by the magnificent Wildhopes Studio. Their story ever so beautiful also included a hand tying ceremony. All of this whilst the sunlight jovially danced through the huge stained-glass windows. Cottiers is a stunning venue for gay weddings. The staff are inclusive to all LGBTQ members, so it truly was a safe space for all the guests to have a great time.
After the “I do’s” the street outside of Cottiers was filled with laughter and gorgeous confetti from one of the best confetti suppliers – YourConfetti. Congratulations were shared with embraces and prosecco in hand.
We then made our way inside where everyone listened to heart-warming speeches and plates of delicious food made their way out of the kitchen. We were spoilt with a lovely meal from Cottiers.
We then slipped off with the two to capture some intimate candid moments. The sun was setting which gave us golden hour bliss as it set a beautiful cinematic tone for their wedding photography moments.
Chappel Roan was pelting it out as we slipped back into the reception room, ready for Cathie and Nicole to share their first dance as a married couple. No dries eyes were to be found once the two did their last swirl and as Nicole placed a gentle kiss on Cathie’s forehead. The formalities were over and the dancing shoes were slipped on as the party kicked off. It was a fun evening as we ourselves danced the night away whilst capturing their hair flailing, limbs-swaying- in- all- directions moments.
Weddings like these make us so proud to be LGBTQ wedding photographers, and as we dash ahead into Pride Month it is so important to remember how lucky we are to have moments like these. For all of those who fought before us to legalise same-sex marriages in Scotland and the world!
